Fred joins Second Base

To all who happen to stumble upon this website: our singer Fred has found a new musical home! He was asked to join the legendary Belgian punk rock band Second Base as a guitar player, an offer he could not refuse. Short and hard: Facefirst is calling it quits. When we were working on new songs after the release of our first demo Too Ugly For TV, it became clear that the four of us no longer had the same musical goals in mind. Although it didn’t affect us as friends, we knew it would be impossible to continue as a band.
It’s been a tough decision to make, but we feel it was the right one. There is no doubt you will see some new musical endeavours from some of us in the future, just not right now.
In order to go out with a bang, we spent last weekend at the Literecordings studio to re-record C’mon C’mon. As soon as David has finished his mix, we’ll post the result here. It will be awesome. We also have a couple of Facefirst t-shirts left. If you buy one, we’ll throw in a couple of cd’s for free.

Poppunt is like the online headquarters for all things music in Belgium, whether you’re looking for instruments, bands, bandmates, clinics, workshops, festivals or anything else. They’re also associated to vi.be, the Belgian equivalent of MySpace (check out the fancy button in our menu). Awesome indeed!
Demo review & show

Too Ugly For TV was reviewed at Rock Metal Punk and got 78%. They got the track list wrong, but I guess that’s what you get when you send in mp3’s instead of a physical disc. The review is pretty positive, so that’s yet another reason to buy this little wonder of musical excellence!
Witness has cancelled for the show in Lichtaart on 19th March, but they’ve been replaced by the wonderful Vettes, who play kick ass rockabilly. They will open at 21h, we’ll follow at 22h and the Cover Rangers will end it all at 23h. Check out the awesome poster:
New show
Feb 24th
We’ve been asked to play at JH De Kelder in Lichtaart again, an invitation we are very happy to accept! Gig date is Friday, 19th March. We’ll be headlining at midnight. Witness plays before us at 23h, an opening band is yet to be confirmed.
Last time at De Kelder was great, hopefully this time will be even better!

Apparently our host is having some server problems which makes our website unreachable every now and then. If that makes you cry, check out our social sites by pushing the nifty buttons on top of the menu bar and bookmark them for your daily dose of Facefirst.
If the server downtime doesn’t make you cry, you probably have a rock for a heart and your main hobby is most likely drowning kittens.
We’re back!

So we moved our website to a new server and had to rebuild everything from scratch, but now we’re (almost) back. In the next couple of days we’ll be adding lyrics, change the awful logo header and fix what’s broken.
That said, there’s some cool new stuff also. You can listen to some of our songs using the Grooveshark widgets to the right and you can visit our social sites by clicking the four fancy buttons on top.
As for the music, both Meule and Yannick have finished their examens so we can start rehearsing again soon. We wrote about eight new songs while they were gone and we’re very excited to start playing them.
Also, we’re looking for shows to play those new songs and of course the ones on our tasty demo Too Ugly For TV. That sucker is still for sale at the price of a measley 5 euro. Head over to our merch page for more cheap and interesting stuff!
